Job Title: Advanced Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be involved in every stage of the manufacturing process, from design and prototyping to testing the final product. You will work closely with a small team of engineers and technicians, offering you a unique opportunity to take on a leadership role and significantly influence project directions and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Complete projects from concept and design through transition to production.
• Take ownership of mechanical aspects of assigned projects.
• Design mechanical aspects of products.
• Assist in transitioning products from prototype to production, including developing production processes and test methods.
• Coordinate with manufacturers to refine manufacturing processes and ensure products meet specifications.
• Diagnose product failures and implement corrective actions.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in new product development and Solidworks.
• Experience in mechanical design and managing the lifecycle of product development.
• Project management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of relevant engineering experience post-graduation.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling (Solidworks preferred) or similar software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Mechanical design experience in low to medium product volume production.
• Robust knowledge of manufacturing techniques including injection molding, extruding, 3D printing, machining, casting, and laser cutting.
• Hands-on experience in designing, assembling, and testing mechanical assemblies.
• In-depth materials knowledge, including engineered plastics.
• Experience with FEA, CFD, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with sealants and adhesives.
• Strong computer skills, including hardware, software, and design packages.
• Familiarity with mechanical assembly and use of hand and power tools.
• Experience with thermal transfer and modeling.
• LED lighting experience.
• Ability to hold design reviews and provide technical guidance and recommendations.

Work Environment

You will be part of a small, close-knit team of eight professionals, offering a chance to make significant impacts within the company. The role involves working with specialty vehicles and requires the ability to commute daily to Belmont, NC. You will work in a lab environment with minimal supervision, which provides a great opportunity for growth and innovation.

This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
