Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-surg Adult, Med-surg Mother/Baby, Med-surg Peds Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days and Nights Hours per Shift: 32-40 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years preferred, new graduates accepted License: Must be licensed in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse. Certifications: Current BLS, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training required. Must-Have: - Completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution. - Proficient oral and written communication skills. - Flexible work schedule and ability to work independently. - Knowledge of medical terminology. - Ability to manage care across the continuum of care. - Ability to work in a patient care setting. - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. - Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret various types of information. Description: Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates nursing care based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care. Serves as a resource person when required. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Responsible for care of all patients from birth to elderly, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients. Conducts the initial assessment and re-assessment every 24 hours. Proficient in utilizing the nursing process in the provision of patient care. Administers treatments, medications, interprets diagnostic tests, and provides education to patients and families. Knowledgeable in managing behavioral health patients and therapeutic communication. Must maintain competencies for the position. Ability to document actions involved in care delivery and follow guidelines and procedures. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret graphs. Ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in practical situations. Works collaboratively with unit secretaries and other healthcare staff.
