Position Type: Administrative/Assistant Principal Date Posted: 1/26/2026 Location: Foster School Date Available: 07/01/2026 Responsibilities Supports the Principal in setting an ambitious school‑wide vision and goals aligned to the district’s mission and strategic goals that prepare students for success in high school and post‑secondary. Serves as an instructional leader and assists in ensuring the implementation of sustainable systems and structures for guiding instruction and student support while building a positive school culture and climate. Supports a robust family and community engagement system and structure in the school community. Evaluates and other licensed staff in accordance with the District 65 teacher evaluation model to improve instruction. Supervises school personnel for monitoring performance, providing professional growth, and achieving overall objectives of the school’s curriculum. Facilitates communication between personnel, students, and/or parents to support students and improve school programs. Monitors fidelity of curriculum implementation to ensure high‑quality, rigorous instruction for all students. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline to provide a safe and optimal learning environment. Manages administrative functions such as facility maintenance, budget, and staffing to maintain safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines. Prepares a variety of materials—including staff evaluations, student activities, and correspondence—to document activities and convey information. Represents the administrative team in school and community forums to maintain ongoing support for educational goals and address school environment issues. Reviews instructional practices in each classroom regularly to improve teaching and learning. Coordinates special education program components to deliver services in alignment with established policies and guidelines for IEP/504 compliance. Manages building‑based evaluation and IEP teams, serving as the Director’s designee at most Child Review and IEP meetings. Manages and coordinates school‑based programs and special projects as directed by the Principal. Uses data to guide decision‑making. Attends all district and community meetings related to the school. Communicates important updates to community stakeholders, including students, staff, parents, and partners. Prioritizes stakeholder engagement by including representatives from multiple racial/ethnic/linguistic groups in school decisions. Encourages a school‑wide practice of cultural equity. Performs any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Five (5) years of teaching experience and two (2) years of school‑level administrator experience, at the assigned level of school is preferred. Master’s degree in Education or a job‑related area. Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative and/or Principal endorsement. Completed teacher evaluator modules. Principal Evaluation Training for Teacher/Educator Evaluators. Principal Evaluation Training for Principal Evaluators. Terms of Employment Twelve‑month year (July 1 to June 30).
