Resource Specialist

Job Summary:

The Resource Specialist position is responsible for working directly with families at the Biobehavioral Health Unit (BBHU). Responsibilities include providing support to families transitioning from BBHU inpatient to outpatient care at the Golisano Center for Special Needs (GCSN) as appropriate, providing follow-up appointments post-discharge, interacting and connecting families with other service providers, county resources and state agencies (e.g., Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities). Additional roles include crisis management, case management, family support, and coordination of services via a triage process to ensure patients have access to the necessary service providers. Participates in working with an interdisciplinary team (e.g., psychologists, pediatricians, nurses, etc.) to review referrals and facilitate appropriate service delivery within the Department of Pediatrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

MSW from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work (CSWE), NYS professional Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Three years of post licensure relevant experience working with interdisciplinary teams in the field of pediatrics. Effective report writing and computer skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant experience working with children with neurodevelopmental differences, demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary teams. Experience with Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
