Dynamic outpatient position at New Mexico's only Level 1 trauma center and the state's only teaching hospital.Have you got the right qualifications and skills for this job Find out below, and hit apply to be considered.The successful applicant will provide services at our main outpatient rehabilitation department with an orthopaedic and primary care focus.As a member of the UNMH outpatient team, you will be part of a rehab department composed of highly trained and specialty certified OTs and PTs.You will also work with PTAs to optimally meet the needs of our clients.Educational opportunities abound.Many of our therapists also teach in the UNM Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy educational programs.We also support a strong student internship program.New graduates welcome.Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials Compensation Disclaimer Compensation for this role is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations.Department: Rehabilitation Outpatient 1025 FTE: 1.00 Full Time Shift: Days Position Summary: Organize and deliver medically-prescribed physical therapy to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part.Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities: THERAPYEvaluate patient to determine treatment goals; outline delivery of therapy according to assessed needs; plan therapy program involving physical means to include exercise, massage, heat, sound, water, light, and electricity EVALUATIONApply methodology for evaluation of functional ability CONSULTATIONConsult with medical staff on patient care EDUCATIONEducate patient in use of specialized equipment, posture control, and therapeutic procedures INSTRUCTIONInstruct caregivers on prescribed physical therapy regimen; instruct patients and caregivers on home and personal safety in various environments THERAPYAdapt therapy techniques to meet patient needs TRAININGConduct training for medical, nursing and ancillary personnel in therapy techniques and objectives; provide clinical direction through mentoring, planning and implementing staff in-service training SUPERVISIONSupervise and instruct Physical Therapy students and volunteers as delegated; delegate patient treatment responsibilities to ancillary staff as appropriate DOCUMENTATIONDocument all patient care activities; process patient billing MODIFICATIONSAssess home environment for modifications; make recommendations on modifications needed to maximize daily living activities SUPPLIES & EQUIPMENTOrder supplies and equipment INSURANCEComplete insurance documentation as required CUSTOMER RELATIONSEstablish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospitals employees DEVELOPMENTEnhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops PATIENT SAFETY 1Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols PATIENT SAFETY 2Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes PATIENT SAFETY 3Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk PATIENT SAFETY 4Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner PATIENT SAFETY 5Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right" Qualifications Education: Essential: Bachelor's Degree Education specialization: Essential: Related Discipline Experience: Essential: Nonessential: Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo 1 year directly related experience Credentials: Essential: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days NM Physical Therapist License or Temporary License Physical Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. xhyhwjd Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.Working conditions: Essential: Med Haz: Mod exposure to chemicals/dangerous equip/materials Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required Sign-On Bonus Available Relocation Assistance Available Department: Clinical Care
