Position Type: Student Services - Student Achievement - ESC/ School-Based Therapist Date Posted: 6/24/2026 Location: District Wide Date Available: August 2026 Closing Date: 07/06/2026 27J Schools is seeking a School-Based Therapist. This position will provide direct, strength‑based, individualized services to elementary and/or secondary school students and their families, integrating school, family, and community support to increase student engagement and reduce negative behavioral health outcomes for identified students. The caseload will be developed through school referrals to the School‑Based Therapist and overseen by the School‑Based Therapy Coordinator. Students referred to the School‑Based Therapist will engage in services designed to improve attendance, increase academic achievement, and reduce negative behavioral health outcomes, including suicidality, anxiety, and depression. Responsibilities Comprehensive diagnostic assessment and interpretation of behavioral, mental health, social/emotional functioning, and health‑related concerns. Consultation, collaboration, and planning with students, educators, and parents regarding concerns for student learning and/or behavior needs. Development, support, and implementation of student interventions including therapeutic modalities, skills training, behavior supports, and crisis response plans. Partner with school staff, families, and school community for coordination of mental and behavioral health services for identified students to support a comprehensive model of school‑linked services. Collaborate with other staff to create a clearly defined process for student referrals. Assist with Suicide Risk Assessments and Non‑Suicidal Self Injury Assessments. Provide follow‑up care, support, and resources to students and families following a suicide risk assessment and/or co‑responder team call. Increase student and family access to direct behavioral and mental health services by providing case management and direct individual and small group sessions, as well as family support and crisis management services for all students. This includes assessing for suicidality and other safety needs, collaboration with other professionals, and referral to community resources. Qualifications Master's degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, criminal justice or related human services field required. Dora licensure in related Mental Health fields (LCSW, LPC, etc.) or working towards and eligible for Dora licensure required. Training(s) in motivational interviewing, behavior assessment, substance abuse intervention and/or case management of high risk youth strongly preferred. Minimum of three years experience working with youth with social emotional/behavioral, and/or academic needs preferred. Experience in Social Emotional Learning, Positive behavioral Interventions and supports (PBIS), and/or Trauma Informed Practices preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr 27J Schools
