Certified Medical Assistant - Urgent Care @ LaGrange Apr 18, 2026 Pay information not provided Job Summary The Medical Assistant functions under the direction of the Physician, Clinical Lead, Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Supervisor and/or Office Manager. Recognizes patient's needs and symptoms in advance and provides care under the physician's direction. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, recording treatment in the medical record, and explaining instructions to patients and families. Demonstrates competency across all age groups and may perform front‑office registration, laboratory testing, and radiology functions within a specialty setting. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Clinical and Non-Clinical Duties: Register patients upon entrance to the facility. Perform all necessary registration operations. Prepare equipment and rooms and aid physicians with patient treatment. Perform vitals and prep patients for procedures. Rotate among clinical and non‑clinical areas such as lab, X‑ray, and front office. Attend to patient safety needs. Cross‑train other team members. Diagnostic Imaging Duties: Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures. Prepare and position patients for imaging, ensuring proper technique and radiation protection. Obtain optimum views as ordered. Process images, review identification, and conduct quality control. Cross‑train other team members. Maintain logs, reports, and documentation. Laboratory Duties: Start lab equipment daily and maintain logs. Perform tests per orders and instructions. Draw blood samples and perform Point‑of‑Care testing. Order and stock supplies weekly. Execute daily quality control and cleaning procedures. Cross‑train other team members. Patient Liaison: Provide culturally competent, patient‑centered care. Partner with patients and families using appropriate methods (e.g., huddles, interdisciplinary rounds). Follow current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinate patient care delivery and documentation. Complete timely documentation and promote inclusive clinical environments. Demonstrate fiscally responsible teamwork. Professional Development: Complete initial and ongoing competency assessments. Serve as preceptor for new Medical Assistants/students. Model professionalism and support workforce development. Evidence‑Based Practice and Research: Promote evidence‑based practice and participate in value analysis. Uphold legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards. Participate in data collection and address practice questions. May serve as a practice Safety Coach. Resources and Support: Plan patient care across the continuum. Develop protocols and procedures collaboratively. Support efficient use of human and material resources. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education High School Diploma (General) or GED (General) Other / Certificate: Medical Assisting Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) Certifications: Medical Assistant, Basic Life Support or BLS – Instructor (required upon hire) Additional License(s) and Certification(s) Phlebotomy certification within 60 days (Preferred) OSHA training for operators of radiology equipment within 60 days (Required) Successful completion of a Medical Assistant credentialing body examination (AAMA, AMT) upon hire (Required) Required Minimum Experience Work experience in a practice setting (Preferred) Specific experience in practice specialty (Required) Radiology experience (Preferred) Provide training within the first sixty days (Required) Required Minimum Skills Organized and attentive to detail. Work quickly and efficiently to assure patient comfort and satisfaction. Communicate and understand verbal and written English; utilize technology to support clinical care and possess basic computer skills.
