This Attorney will have experience with patent and pharmaceutical IP litigation, including Hatch-Waxman/ANDA matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while representing clients in high-stakes litigation and related advisory matters.Offer:Salary range: $180,000-$240,000, contingent on experienceFull medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with firm contributionGenerous paid time off and firm holidaysPerformance-based annual bonusBar dues and CLE expenses coveredProfessional development and training opportunitiesFlexible hybrid work arrangement based in ChicagoCollaborative, low-ego team environment with significant case ownershipQualifications:The candidate must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.The candidate must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with eligibility to waive into or sit for the Illinois Bar strongly preferred.The candidate must have 2+ years of experience in complex litigation, with a strong preference for prior experience in patent litigation or pharmaceutical IP matters.The candidate must have experience drafting pleadings, motions, and substantive briefs in federal court, including dispositive motions.The candidate must have strong research and writing skills and be able to draft clear, persuasive, and well-supported legal arguments.The candidate must have experience with discovery, including managing document review, preparing discovery requests and responses, and working with fact and expert witnesses.The candidate must be comfortable working on case teams and communicating effectively with partners, clients, and support staff.The candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.The candidate must show a genuine interest in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences patent issues; a technical or scientific background is strongly preferred but not required.The candidate must have strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work product.The candidate must be willing to take on increasing responsibility, including direct client contact and courtroom opportunities, as skills and experience develop.Responsibilities:The Attorney will manage and support all phases of complex patent and IP litigation in federal courts, including pre-suit investigation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and appeal as needed.The Attorney will research and analyze legal issues related to patent law, pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks, and related IP issues, and will prepare clear and concise memoranda for partners and clients.The Attorney will draft complaints, answers, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings in federal court, including summary judgment and claim construction briefing.The Attorney will handle discovery tasks, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing document review, preparing privilege logs, and coordinating with e-discovery vendors.The Attorney will assist with depositions, including preparing outlines, working with fact and expert witnesses, and reviewing and summarizing testimony.The Attorney will support and, as appropriate, participate in hearings, Markman proceedings, and trial, including preparing witness examinations, demonstratives, and exhibit lists.The Attorney will work closely with experts in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and related technical areas to develop case themes and expert reports.The Attorney will communicate with clients regularly to provide case updates, discuss strategy, and respond to client questions in a timely and professional manner.The Attorney will contribute to case strategy discussions and help develop creative, business-minded litigation approaches tailored to clients' goals.The Attorney will assist with settlement evaluation and negotiation, including preparing mediation statements and related materials.The Attorney will participate in business development and firm marketing activities as needed, including contributing to articles, presentations, and thought leadership related to IP litigation.
