Risk Technology Production Engineer

Location: New YorkDepartment: TechnologyExperience Level: Experience ProfessionalsContact: Maddelyn MohrJob ID: REQ8422ROLE OVERVIEWThis role is primarily aimed at supporting the risk applications and their integration with front, middle and back-office systems. The role also includes supporting the risk management teams in troubleshooting and implementing their code in a cloud-based risk platform that relies on Jupyter Notebook.The position demands a proactive, outgoing individual who can effectively collaborate across various technology teams and risk management teams to boost the efficiency and capabilities of applications they support. The candidate will possess excellent communication skills, solid technical skills with experience in supporting critical applications within finance, good database skills, and development skills. The preferred applicant will have at least 2 years of experience in developing and/or supporting Python applications.Responsibilities will include: · Proactively engage with Risk Managers to resolve issues and identify improvement opportunities.· Work as part of the global support team, participating in follow-the-sun support model with appropriate geographic handovers· Roll out, set up, and educate end-users on new product implementations· Provide 1st and 2nd line support for risk applications reported directly by users or through alerting systems.· Work with external vendors’ support teams to resolve technical and functional issues· Assist Development teams, supporting new projects from requirements gathering through deployment to production· Implementation and maintenance of application specific monitoring using ITRS Geneos, LGTM stacks, and other APM tools.· Set up and monitor automated jobs in a central scheduler; ActiveBatch and Airflow· Develop automation solutions that eliminate repetitive manual work and reduce operational toil.· Disciplined use of ticket, issue, and change management systems using Jira/Jira Service DeskQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:· Proactive with excellent communication skills; lively, friendly, sociable personality· 2-5 years of experience working with investment banks, investment advisors or associated software vendors· Experience with at least one major asset class (e.g. rates, equities, FX, credit) and associated modeling and market data.· Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities, including being able to interpret, understand, and troubleshoot internally developed systems· Experience in software deployment, administration, and support· Experience with Python development tools, processes, debugging and common packages; Pandas, Polars, NumPy, Conda, UV· Experience with scheduling tools e.g., ActiveBatch and Airflow· Strong SQL experience across various database implementations, including MSSQL and Snowflake· Experience with JIRA Service Desk, AWS/Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes· Experience with Linux and Windows operating system administration· Experience in scripting e.g. Bash, PowerShellOTHER BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE:· Understanding risk analytics with the ability to discuss these products with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Risk Managers.· Experience with the following systems/technologies beneficial: Risk Metrics, Beacon, Axioma, Barra· Experience with monitoring and observability platform e.g., ITRS Geneos and Grafana LGTM stack· Experience supporting large scale, distributed systems, micro-service and event-based designs· Experience with AI Agent harnessEDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:· 2+ years of experience working with investment banks, investment advisors or associated software vendors· STEM degree
