Thyroid Specialist Position

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a full-time Thyroid Specialist at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of Endocrinology. This position emphasizes excellence in thyroid and general endocrine care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department.

The successful candidate will join a team of faculty dedicated to providing outstanding endocrine care, with opportunities to develop or expand expertise in thyroid disease management, thyroid ultrasound, and fine-needle aspiration, as well as in diabetes and other endocrine conditions.

The Division supports an ACGME-accredited Endocrinology Fellowship Program that trains four fellows across two years. Fellows benefit from diverse clinical experiences and mentorship from faculty recognized for their clinical expertise and dedication to teaching.

Essential responsibilities include providing comprehensive inpatient and/or outpatient endocrinology care, developing and growing thyroid-specific clinical services, supervising and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, engaging in departmental and divisional quality improvement initiatives, contributing to curriculum development, participating in departmental and divisional meetings, and faculty development activities.

Minimum qualifications include an MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school, board certification or eligibility in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, and eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

Preferred qualifications include clinical experience in thyroid disease management, thyroid ultrasound, and/or fine-needle aspiration, experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment, demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, or quality improvement projects, and strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
