POSITION OVERVIEW

App-Techs Corp. is a managed IT and communications services provider supporting commercial and municipal clients throughout the PA region. We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Field Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a technician with broad low-voltage and IT infrastructure experience who is comfortable working independently, interfacing with clients professionally, and delivering high-quality results across a variety of systems and environments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Structured Cabling & Low Voltage

• Pull, route, terminate, and label CAT5e/CAT6, coax, control, and fiber optic cabling.
• Install and dress patch panels, racks, cable trays, MDF/IDF enclosures, and wall plates.
• Test and certify installed cabling using Fluke or equivalent testers.
• Install conduit, raceways, and low-voltage mounting hardware per code.

Network & IT Infrastructure

• Deploy and configure managed network equipment (switches, APs, routers).
• Perform basic switch configuration and basic network troubleshooting.
• Assist with server room builds, equipment mounting, and cable management.
• Support Windows and Linux-based client environments in the field.

VoIP & Telephony

• Install and configure IP phones, VoIP endpoints, and PBX/telephony hardware.
• Assist with hosted VoIP system deployments and troubleshooting.
• Terminate and test telephone cabling; trace and resolve line or connectivity issues.

Security, Access Control & Surveillance

• Install IP cameras, NVRs, and video surveillance systems.
• Mount, wire, and program access control panels, readers, and door hardware.
• Perform basic system commissioning, testing, and end-user orientation.

CLIENT & OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the on-site face of App-Techs - professional appearance and communication required.
• Document completed work accurately in project management and ticketing systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
• Properly care for and account for company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Escalate complex or unfamiliar issues to senior staff promptly and clearly.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, or IT/network installation.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and basic network tools.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record - ability to operate a bucket truck.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably at heights (ladders / lifts).
• Pass basic criminal and background checks for entry to schools and government facilities.

Preferred

• Experience with managed networking equipment.
• Familiarity with hosted VoIP platforms.
• Experience with Milestone XProtect or other VMS platforms.
• Manufacturer certifications in networking, access control, or video surveillance.
• CompTIA Network+ or equivalent.

SCHEDULE & LOCATION

• Full-time | Monday - Friday, standard business hours.
• Occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project needs.
• Field-based role serving client sites across the Lancaster, PA region.
• Local and regional travel only; no extended out-of-state travel required.
