With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.About the role.This role is responsible for leading the Canada-based Transportation Operations team, ensuring the effective execution of daily logistics activities while driving continuous improvement across the transportation network. The position balances operational execution with strategic oversight, including carrier performance, freight spend, service levels, and long-term rail strategy for North America. The successful candidate will partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to deliver on service and cost objectives while fostering strong carrier relationships and operational excellence.What you’ll be doing.Lead and coach a team of transportation professionals, managing escalations and ensuring effective resolution of carrier-related challengesHold carriers accountable for service performance, including on-time delivery, tender acceptance, routing guide compliance, and shipment visibilityBuild and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners, including leading Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)Oversee daily transportation operations through effective use of TMS systems for planning, execution, and cost managementEnsure adherence to routing guides, contracted rates, and capacity agreements established by Logistics ProcurementDrive continuous improvement initiatives, including savings identification, process optimization, and system enhancementsMonitor and manage freight spend against budget while maintaining KPI and service level targetsCollaborate with Customer Service, Deployment, Finance, and Procurement teams to ensure alignment on priorities and executionLead operational meetings and support customer “hyper care” initiatives as requiredProvide input into network optimization, distribution modeling, annual budgeting, and RFP processesWhat you’ll need to be successful.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum 3+ years of experience in logistics or transportation operationsPrior experience leading or supervising a teamStrong understanding of transportation modes, carrier management, and end-to-end supply chain processesDemonstrated experience in continuous improvement and process optimizationStrong financial acumen with the ability to understand and manage freight spendProficiency in TMS systems; familiarity with tools such as SAP, WMS, or 4Kites is an assetAdvanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skillsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilitiesStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExperience in frozen food logistics or distribution is considered an assetAbout the team.You will lead a team of 7 transportation professionals based in Canada, supporting operations across the North American logistics network. The team partners closely with Customer Service, Supply Chain Planning, Deployment, Finance, and external carriers and 3PL partners. USD annually + Bonus eligibilityThe above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting.
