Day in the Life of an Individual Support Worker Assist behavioral therapists in creating effective therapy programs tailored to children and adolescents. Implement individualized service plans and provide behavioral interventions in home and community settings. Actively manage youth with behavioral challenges, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Create and enforce safety standards and teach positive behavioral practices. Monitor and document youth behavior observations, adjusting activities to align with therapeutic goals. Design and lead engaging recreational activities that support emotional and social growth. Do This Sound Like You? College degree with one year of experience or a high‑school diploma/GED plus a minimum of three years of supervised experience in positive behavior support plans and teaching ADL/instrumental skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with children and families. Ability to work independently while following established protocols and guidelines. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents. Prior experience in behavioral interventions and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
