Employment Details Employment Status: Full‑Time. Working Hours: 36 hours per week (72 hours per pay period). Shift: 1st shift. Position Reports To: Director of Emergency & Perioperative Services. Job Summary The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) provides assistance to a physician or staff with surgical privileges. The RNFA practices under the supervision of the surgeon during the intraoperative experience, and collaborates with the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Participates in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients in collaboration with the perioperative team members in the preoperative location. Responsible for applying principles of asepsis and infection control management. Displays consistent awareness of safety hazards and initiates appropriate preventative and corrective actions. Handles and dissects tissues in collaboration with the surgeon. Clamps blood vessels, coagulates bleeding points, ligates vessels, and performs other procedures in collaboration with the surgeon. Responsible for suturing muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin tissue in collaboration with the surgeon. Qualifications Current Ohio RN license. Completion of an RNFA Program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire and maintained. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of hire and maintained. Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification. Preferred: Certified RN First Assistant (CRNFA) certification.
