Sr. Mortgage Loan Officer

Position Summary Senior Mortgage Loan Officer assists current and potential members with the mortgage loan process, guiding them from application through approval and closing. Responsibilities include recommending mortgage product options, explaining terms, and maintaining accurate, continuous communication with members, support staff, and management. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate Wellby core values daily and focus on providing an exceptional team member experience. Meet with prospective member borrowers. Request, review, and analyze applicant credit and financial data. Determine member financing objectives and goals. Present appropriate products and programs, explaining guidelines and interest‑rate pricing. Identify opportunities to sell additional loan products. Collect all required supporting documentation and ensure it is complete for underwriting. Work with compliance and underwriting to ensure any outstanding loan conditions are met. Provide ongoing communication to the member throughout the process, up to and including loan closing details. Ensure exceptional service experience for the member during the entire mortgage application process. Comply with applicable consumer laws, regulations, and company guidelines. Complete all necessary training and licensing requirements. Maintain a thorough knowledge of offered lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Maintain confidentiality of all processed information. Achieve mutually agreed upon personal production goals determined by mortgage management. Perform all functions in accordance with the credit union’s mortgage lending policies and procedures. Prepare, complete, and submit required reporting as directed by mortgage management. Use the organization’s loan origination system effectively. Ensure accountability and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning mortgage lending. Manage multiple loan submissions and meet required deadlines for each loan. Perform basic math functions accurately, including common decimal fractions, rates, and percentages. Travel to vendor locations, Wellby branch locations, and member locations regularly. Perform any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Knowledge of Wellby’s organizational functions, policies, and procedures. Understanding of general office procedures, business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic. Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and mortgage loan origination software. Understanding of mortgage pricing, rate sheets, products, and guidelines. Ability to identify and pursue business expansion opportunities within the existing market. Skilled in operating computer equipment and general office machines. Effective communication skills to convey information and ideas clearly. Ability to work effectively across departments and achieve origination goals. Capacity to handle fast‑paced team environments with exceptional member service skills. Knowledge of mortgage lending industry standards, laws, and regulations. Proficient in data entry and use of mortgage lending software systems. Ability to manage stress when dealing with varied personalities and review loan details for accuracy. Strong oral and written communication skills, working independently with minimal supervision. Coordination of several concurrent activities simultaneously. Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities. Complexity & Scope of Work Performs routine loan‑originating tasks with independent judgment. Decisions regarding unusual circumstances are made occasionally, with work reviewed periodically for accuracy and compliance. Physical Demands & Work Environment Requires frequent sitting and standing, reaching, grasping, operating computers, and occasional lifting up to 25lb. Work occurs in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum seven (7) years as a mortgage loan officer, or five (5) years as a loan officer with two (2) years of mortgage experience. Experience originating conventional and government lending products. Thorough understanding of conventional and government underwriting guidelines. Ability to obtain and maintain a Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) license. Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30days of hire. Meet Wellby’s loan‑officer monthly minimum standards. Compensation Full‑Time, Salary (exempt) role.
