Job Title: 1st Shift Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Worker

Job Description

This role supports a busy distribution operation that manufactures automotive parts by performing a variety of shipping, receiving, and warehouse tasks on 1st shift. You will handle inventory, load and unload trucks, pick and package orders using RF scanners and rolling stairs, and assist warehouse leadership to ensure accurate and timely shipment of products. The position requires flexibility with early morning start times, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a strong commitment to safety and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming inventory, verify quantities, and restock materials in designated warehouse locations.
• Perform shipping and receiving activities, including preparing outbound orders and processing inbound deliveries.
• Load and unload materials from trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate equipment and manual handling.
• Break down boxes, sort materials, and package items securely for shipment according to company standards.
• Use rolling stairs and order pickers to reach and retrieve materials stored at various heights within the warehouse.
• Operate RF scanners to pick, track, and confirm orders accurately for the automotive parts distribution process.
• Pick orders using rolling safety ladders that may range from approximately 7 to 15 steps to access higher storage locations.
• Assist Warehouse Supervisors and other team members with daily tasks and special projects as needed.
• Maintain accurate warehouse inventory by following established procedures for order picking, packing, and restocking.
• Support shipping and receiving operations by organizing pallets, staging orders, and preparing items for carrier pickup.
• Use pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment as required to move, position, and organize materials.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of ladders, safe lifting techniques, and awareness of forklift traffic.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.
• Perform general housekeeping tasks to keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Essential Skills

• Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Ability to use RF scanners for order picking, inventory tracking, and shipment confirmation.
• Proficiency in order picking, packing, and packaging items for shipment with attention to detail.
• Ability to safely load and unload trucks and handle materials using pallet jacks and other basic warehouse tools.
• Capability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Comfort using rolling safety ladders and stairs, generally 5–7 steps, and the ability to occasionally use taller ladders up to approximately 15 feet when needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms throughout the shift.
• Ability to occasionally climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or squat as required by warehouse tasks.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment while remaining self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and shipping documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse environment focused on automotive parts or similar products is beneficial.
• in shipping and receiving, warehouse inventory, and order picking is an advantage.
• Familiarity with using RF scanners, pallet jacks, and basic warehouse equipment.
• Willingness to learn and expand skills, including potential future training on forklifts.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and flexibility to support mandatory overtime and occasional weekend work.

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy distribution and manufacturing warehouse for automotive parts, operating on 1st shift Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime of up to 2 hours daily and occasional Saturdays. Typical start times are 5:30 AM or 6:30 AM, with end times around 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, and flexibility with start and end times is required. The noise level is usually high due to forklifts and other machinery running throughout the facility, so awareness of surroundings and adherence to safety practices are essential. The role involves frequent use of stairs and rolling safety ladders, as well as RF scanners and basic warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks. Work is physically demanding, requiring regular lifting, carrying, and movement throughout the warehouse. The dress code consists of a plain shirt, jeans without holes, and closed-toe shoes, with no logos related to alcohol or similar products allowed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brea, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
