Produce Assistant

The Produce Assistant is responsible for assisting the Produce Manager in the successful operation and profitability of the produce department.

Responsibilities include providing world class customer service, exemplifying integrity, responsibility, and excellence, creating an inviting produce department, assisting in ordering and maintaining inventory, managing margin and profitability, setting up the department daily, culling and handling produce, ensuring all products meet company standards, cleaning tools and equipment, receiving produce orders, offering and following up on special orders, assisting in training and monitoring personnel, conducting demos, addressing performance issues, handling register functions, maintaining safety and security, answering customer questions, increasing product knowledge, utilizing email and IS programs, completing DSR and closing cash processes, and working a schedule based on store needs.

This position has limited Manager on Duty functions but is never intended to be the overall Manager on Duty for the store. All employees are expected to be "hands on" and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.

Qualifications

Recipe for success includes a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in grocery, retail or produce environment, experience supervising others, ability to pass food safety training courses, managing changing priorities, sense of urgency, excellent customer service skills, high organization with attention to detail, cashier training, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
