Operations Support Specialist

Job TitleThis role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.ResponsibilitiesPosition Responsibilities:As the operation process expert, this role provides guidance to the build plan including methods and techniques, sequence of steps, tool plans, layouts, etc.Responsible for keeping up with industry best practices and implementing them within operations.Develop labor hour estimates as well as tooling and build concepts for new bid proposalsProvides expertise in production engineering disciplinesApplies principles and practices typically associated with quality engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering functions and coordinates with other support disciplines or core functions as required. Teams to coordinate with include: Engineering, management, lean, tooling and operationsDevelops quality and cost-effective methods, standards, and systems for production by applying production engineering principlesLeads and participates in long-range technical research on proposed projectsProvides guidance to less experienced manufacturing support staffQualificationsBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):5+ years of experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and manufacturing supportHigh level of understanding of composites and manufacturingExperience with Continuous improvementStrong listening skills and a willingness to learnHigh level understanding of composite fabrication and manufacturingAbility to work cross-functionallyBasic computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, navigate through 3-D engineering models)Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Bachelor's DegreeSAP experienceManufacturing/shop floor experienceLean and Six Sigma experienceUnderstands RCCA process, can prepare a business case, process improvementsDrug Free Workplace:We are a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Union:This is a union represented position.Pay & Benefits:We strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
