About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Med/Surg floor experience preferred License: Current RN license in state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor Must-Have: - Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent required - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred - Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice required Description: Located in a scenic area, this facility has been serving the community since 1977. It features a 122-bed acute care facility providing various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. The job involves planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the medical/surgical unit. Orients to care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include care planning, taking vital signs, administering medication, and understanding physiological changes and psychosocial needs. Supervising and delegating care responsibilities to ancillary personnel in accordance with their scope of practice is required. Essential Functions: Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations. Demonstrates competency in routine nursing skills including medication administration and intravenous therapy. Cares for acute post-operative wounds and uses sterile technique. Educates patients and families about care using age-appropriate teaching methods. Delegates patient care tasks based on individual competency and scope of practice. Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided and completes timely documentation of all nursing care. Engages in safety and quality control checks and identifies opportunities for care improvement. Uses downtime efficiently for job-related tasks such as cleaning, restocking, and training. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
