Company Description FNF Midsouth Commercial Services, a member of the FNF Family of Companies, facilitates and expedites commercial real estate closings for customers throughout the MidSouth and beyond. The team brings over 200 years of combined experience, offering deep expertise in complex commercial transactions. MidSouth Commercial underwriting counsel are licensed in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, and West Virginia, providing broad regional coverage, focusing on responsive service, practical solutions, and dependable support for clients and partners.
Role Description The Commercial Underwriting Counsel will support commercial real estate transactions by reviewing, analyzing, and underwriting title commitments, policies, endorsements, and related documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include examining title searches, identifying and resolving title issues, reviewing proforma policies, conducting survey review, drafting and revising commercial closing documents, and providing clear legal guidance to internal teams and customers. The role will collaborate with escrow officers, title officers, other underwriters, the parties the transaction, and external counsel to appropriately coordinate transactions. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Franklin, TN or in Louisville, KY.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law with experience in real estate, title insurance, or commercial property transactions.
- Ability to analyze and address legal Issues, including risk assessment, compliance considerations, and title defect resolution.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one relevant jurisdiction (Tennessee, Alabama, and/or Kentucky preferred).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, detail-sensitive environment.
- Prior experience in title insurance, commercial real estate law, or underwriting counsel roles strongly preferred.
