Phlebotomist

The primary purpose of this position is to perform phlebotomy, and to report results accurately. Position will be staffed during clinic hours.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs phlebotomy and procedures on all patientsEnsures lab area is stocked adequately and submits supply orders to supervisorProcesses requests for reference lab send outsGreets patients and schedules appointments in a consistent mannerSchedules and coordinates patient lab appointmentsPrepares patient intake slips for clinic and/or outside lab ordersProcesses lab orders via clinic computer systemVerifies demographics and insurance informationEnsures all proper diagnosis codes and pertinent patient information is accurate prior to laboratory testingPrepare Advanced Beneficiary Notices forms as neededWork on lab appointment schedules for next day appointmentsRoutes medical information as neededMaintains organized and updated lab order filesProvides completed lab testing reports to outside facilitiesVerifies providers and coverage concerns for patients prior to laboratory testingOrganizes and maintains a clean and efficient work spaceStocks and maintains inventory of all registration suppliesPerforms other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Remain punctual, reliable, and available for late coverage if applicableMaintain a positive and respectful attitude while supporting the clinic visionWork effectively under pressure in a fast pace environmentMaintain a neat and well groomed professional appearanceInteract positively with all interdisciplinary team membersMaintain confidentiality of all information acquired through clinic employmentEstablish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, internal personnel, and outside facilitiesFollow clinic emergency/safety protocols and attend mandatory meetingsAbide by clinic protocols, ergonomic recommendations, OSHA standards, & CLIA lawsAdhere to the clinic philosophy and provide comprehensive care according to patient-centered healthcare clinicWORKING CONDITIONS:Subject to interruptions, high volume telephone calls, and frequent problem solving activitiesSubject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, staff, or outside agenciesFlexibility in scheduling to meet department needsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Abide by ergonomic recommendations of the positionMust possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetic devices that will enable these senses to function adequatelySit or stand for several hours.Subject to lifting and carrying supplies averaging 25 poundsRepetitive motions involving use of phone and keyboardEDUCATION:Minimum: Phlebotomist or CMA/MAEXPERIENCE:Minimum: One year in a customer service oriented position.Desired: Experience in phlebotomy in a health care settingKNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of medical and laboratory testing terminologyKnowledge of clinic computer system including Lab Information SystemAbility to work independently with minimal instructionWorking knowledge of PC, Windows & Microsoft OfficeAbility to be accurate, efficient and detail oriented with ability to prioritize work #J-18808-Ljbffr HUDSON PHYSICIANS SC
