2nd Shift Maintenance Technician

Job Summary EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Maintenance Technician in Bethesda, MD (2:00 pm – 10:30 pm Tuesday thru Saturday). The Technician will report daily to the EMCOR 2nd shift Lead and support them to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Primary responsibilities include general maintenance of the facility and equipment as required. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, and have 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in facilities maintenance covering a wide range of general services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Communicate effectively with the Site Lead to determine service needs and coordinate client sub‑contractors. Repair walls, floors, doors, and perform painting and touch‑up work for facility beautification. Repair and unclog toilets and urinals, replace valve assemblies, and maintain sensors for automatic flush kits and other plumbing system components. Maintain and repair air‑handling equipment such as vent fans and circulation fans. Follow a strict preventive maintenance (PM) schedule for HVAC equipment, including filter changes and coil cleaning. Perform a wide variety of corrective maintenance work requests and conduct daily rounds and inspections. Assist other skilled employees with projects as requested. Monitor building automation computer system to ensure equipment operates within temperature specifications and promptly report operational concerns. Qualifications HS Diploma (or higher). 3–5 years of experience related to facility maintenance. Valid U.S. driver’s license. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Strong customer‑service and communication skills; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates. Basic computer skills for writing routine reports and correspondence via email and internet. Technical Qualifications & Skills Perform various general maintenance tasks across all facility aspects (ceilings, floors, doors, walls, plumbing, minor electrical, lighting, parking garages, mechanical rooms, hot water systems, building exterior/grounds). Maintain a strict PM schedule, including HVAC filter changes and coil cleaning. Repair and unclog toilets and urinals, replace and maintain valve assemblies and automatic flush sensor kits. Maintain air‑handling equipment such as vent and circulation fans. Maintain records and reports of maintenance activities. Monitor and adjust building automation system; respond to alarm conditions and communicate concerns to leadership. Physical Demands The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, walking throughout the facility, regularly kneeling, moving in a 90‑degree fashion, and working on varied terrains. The employee must interact professionally with all clients, even during stressful periods. Work Environment Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, electrical shock, vibration, and loud noise. May be required to work in confined, restricted, and hot areas. Snow removal duties may involve outdoor work in cold/snow conditions. Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required.
