Respiratory Therapists are skilled in using equipment like ventilators, oxygen therapy, and other devices to assist patients with breathing difficulties. \n Common Duties and Responsibilities: \n Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients with breathing difficulties or cardiopulmonary issues by reviewing their medical history, conducting physical exams, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as blood gases, chest X-rays, and pulmonary function tests. \n Respiratory Care: Administer treatments to improve breathing, such as oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, chest physiotherapy, and inhalation therapy (e.g., nebulizer treatments). \n Equipment Management: Set up and monitor equipment like ventilators, oxygen tanks, CPAP machines, and other respiratory devices. Ensure proper function and maintenance of equipment. \n Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations like respiratory failure, asthma attacks, or trauma, providing immediate life-saving interventions. \n Patient Education: Educate patients and families on managing chronic respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma, and sleep apnea.
