Laboratory Scientist/MLS/CLS/MT - Chemistry - PRN (8 weekly hours) - Weekend Nights

Weekend Night Schedule Saturday: 8 hours, Sunday: 8 hours, every other weekend. Position Overview Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist FR provides accurate and timely testing and results to requesting physicians and other healthcare professionals for diagnosis and treatment of disease. Responsible for the analyses of a variety of biological specimens and performs complex lab tests. Consistently utilizes excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times. Position requires a positive and professional interpersonal style with a strong commitment to the team effort. Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory tests according to established procedures. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and validate lab equipment. Perform and document quality control and follow established quality assurance guidelines. Assist in educating and training laboratory personnel, students, and residents. Maintain laboratory supplies and inventory. May perform specimen collection, processing, and phlebotomy as applicable to specific work location. Ensure the laboratory maintains accreditation standards from CAP, Joint Commission, and other accrediting agencies as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Patient Population (Age Groups Served) Neonates (0-4 weeks) Infants (1-12 months) Pediatrics (1-12 years) Adolescents (13-17 years) Adults (18-64 years) Geriatrics (65 years and older) Employment Qualifications Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) from an accredited program or a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science plus graduation from an NAACLS-accredited CLS/MT certificate program. Or Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science with 5 or more years of on‑job training in a hospital health care environment performing high‑complexity testing in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology and clinical microscopy (categorical or generalist certification required). Preferred Education Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MSCLS) from an accredited program. Licensure / Certification Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or CLS by NCA or AMT or equivalent categorical certification. Certification maintenance – required CE hours as per CMP unless licensed prior to January 1 2004. Minimum Experience Entry level Medical Laboratory Scientist graduate. Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work rotating weekends as required. Ability to work holiday scheduling as required. Availability to take on call and emergency coverage on any shift. Previous experience as Medical Technologist, Clinical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Scientist preferred. Working Conditions High stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment with occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind. Required to travel by car to off‑site locations. May be exposed to high noise levels, bright lights, limited hazardous substances or body fluids, and human blood. May be required to perform manual dexterity tasks, repetitive arm‑hand movements, lifting up to 100+ lbs, pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, balance, and bending. Must exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment, and adhere to infection control policies.
