Position Overview


This Billing Assistant role supports a fast-growing ambulance company headquartered in Flint, MI. Although the organization is Michigan-based, the position is 100% remote , and all necessary equipment is provided. To maintain workflow alignment with billing cycles and payer communication, candidates must reside within the Eastern Time Zone .

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in ambulance billing with hands-on proficiency in Traumasoft . You'll work closely with the billing team to ensure timely, accurate posting, invoicing, and documentation submission.

Key Responsibilities

• Payment posting - Accurately post payments, adjustments, and remittances into Traumasoft and internal billing systems.
• Invoice production - Generate, review, and submit invoices for ambulance transports, ensuring compliance with payer requirements.
• Traumasoft data management - Add and maintain essential records including:
  
  
  • Physicians
  • Payors
  • Fee schedules
  • Death certificates
  • Other required documentation
• Claims preparation - Support the billing team in preparing claims for submission and resolving missing or incomplete documentation.
• Payer communication - Assist with follow-ups, corrections, and resubmissions as needed.
• Record accuracy - Maintain organized, compliant, and up-to-date billing records.
• Cross-department support - Collaborate with dispatch, HR, and leadership to ensure billing accuracy and workflow efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in ambulance billing - Understanding of transport types, documentation requirements, and EMS billing regulations.
• Proficiency in Traumasoft - Must have hands-on experience navigating and utilizing Traumasoft's billing modules.
• Residence in the Eastern Time Zone - Required for schedule alignment and operational consistency.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
