Teller I

First United Bank

Position: Teller I at First United Bank. Responsibilities Maintain basic knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies and relevant regulatory issues. Follow proper procedures accurately and efficiently for all customer‑servicing activities. Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships. Serve as the customer’s single point of contact for all First United Bank products and services. Consistently meet and often exceed performance goals and actively participate in all sales campaigns; promote new products and services and educate customers and peers. Participate in all meetings, bank functions and customer appreciation/community events as requested or assigned by supervisor. Consistently meet customer service expectations by greeting customers, smiling, using their name and building rapport to generate loyalty. Identify and match customer product needs by interviewing customers and discussing their financial needs; make referrals to other staff members and departments as needed. Open new accounts, certificates of deposit and other ancillary products; answer questions, provide account opening information and ensure proper paperwork is completed and entered on the system. Assist customers with routine questions and requests: balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, ACH, automatic funds transfer, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy. Process a variety of transactions quickly with minimal errors according to First United Bank policies and procedures. Maintain appropriate drawer limits, perform cash verifications and vault duties; verify all transactions, place holds as appropriate and prove cash drawer upon completion of shift to ensure compliance with standards. Resolve customer complaints, problems or other issues; review and resolve account issues listed in insufficient and exception reports daily. Perform security functions by opening and closing bank and vault, and ensuring overall safety and security of bank grounds. Master the primary purpose and essential duties of the Teller I position. Qualifications High school diploma strongly preferred; some college preferred. Minimum of 1 year of banking experience as a teller, lending assistant or new accounts. Cash handling experience preferred. Superior customer service skills required. Basic mathematics skills. Exact or highly accurate with daily work. Ability to read, write and verbally communicate with customers and coworkers. Time‑management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good judgment, decision‑making skills and critical thinking. Ability to multi‑task and maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Ethical behavior in and out of work. Active listening skills.
