The Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to individuals with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the school and community. The RBT will collect data on programs, report to parents, and assist the BCBA with assessment as needed. RBT's work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and building principal.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct student service in classrooms settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
- Follow the behavior intervention plan.
- Collect, record, and interpret data on observable student behavior.
- Support BCBAs and teachers with parent training in line with the student's individualized behavior intervention plans.
- Effectively communicate with school staff and parents regarding student progress.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Assist teacher/staff with skill acquisitions and behavior intervention plans.
- Assist teacher/staff preparing student materials as instructed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with IEP team.
- Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
- Meet with BCBA weekly.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This is a full -time position, requiring regular reliable and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree.
- 60 credit hours from approved post secondary institution, or CDA certificate with the ability to complete additional 30 hours.
- Have passing score on one of the following state approved academic assessments:
- Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC).
- ETS ParaPro Assessment.
- Experience working with special education students.
- Must be able to perform academic work at the level of assignment (K-8 or secondary).
- CPI training or willingness to be trained.
- ABA training desired.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and community members.
- Ability to adhere to Board of Trustees policy.
- Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to professional skills, ethics, technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standards under the guidance of the BCBA.
- Ability to interpret and implement student behavior intervention plans and IEP goals and objectives.
- Must maintain a professional appearance.
- Must hold and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or be willing to obtain the certification.
- Enjoy working with students.
- Tolerate working with children who may be aggressive (e.g. hit, kick, spit and scratch).
- Possess the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Possess the ability to frequently move about and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
- Possess the ability to relate and interact professionally with students, staff and families.
- Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
