Under the general direction of the Branch /Service Manager, the Senior Teller is responsible for performing routine to complex teller duties involving deposits; cashing checks and savings transactions; processing loan payments; assisting with night depository duties; servicing the ATM; promoting business for the Bank by demonstrating excellent customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. The position demonstrates expert knowledge and skills in the areas of vault, safe deposit, branch operations, and bank products and services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Overrides and voids transactions within given authority limits.
- Initiates outgoing and incoming wires.
- Demonstrates advanced business account acumen to sell/discuss cash management services with businesses.
- Performs branch certifications as assigned.
- Receives retail, commercial checking, and savings deposits, determines if all necessary deposit documents are in proper form, and issues receipts.
- Cashes checks, savings withdrawals and accepts loan payments; confirms all necessary documents are properly authorized, in proper form and within authorized limits; makes informed decisions when questionable items are presented for cashing.
- Processes more complex transactions accurately with all required Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) information.
- Balances cash drawer daily and teller differences.
- Promotes and cross-sells the Bank’s products and services by effectively assisting customers in their selection to meet their needs.
- Provides courteous and professional assistance to customers over the phone, ensuring proper telephone etiquette is maintained at all times.
- Provides effective customer service and resolves complex problems within given authority.
- Mentors new and less experienced tellers and provides support, training, and technical guidance.
- Issues Cashier’s Checks and initiates outgoing wire transfer requests.
- Completes night depository duties and ATM servicing; logging bags, processing deposits, making change orders, issuing receipts and returning bags to customers.
- Assists in opening and closing the vault daily; assists in balancing vault currency and coin; prepares and accepts shipments.
- Establishes proper identification of new customers and determines need and extent of reference investigation.
- Operates computer terminal to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve complex problems within given authority.
- Performs safe deposit duties by, controlling access, assisting customers and processing affiliated reports.
- Receives and processes stop payment and hold orders.
- Accepts loan, installment and collection payments.
- Records, files, updates information, scans/images as needed, and sorts mail or reports as required.
- Gathers data and process various reports (e.g., currency transaction, returned items, overdrafts, callbacks, etc.)
- Processes address changes, check and deposit slip orders, endorsement stamp orders, TT&L payments, ATM deposits, credit ratings, certifications, incoming and outgoing wires, incoming and outgoing collections, change orders and deposit slip corrections.
- May generate routine letters reports and forms.
- Maintains files, copies and faxes documents, and orders and distributes supplies.

Compliance
- Complies with all bank policies and procedures and all applicable government regulations including, but not limited to regulations, staying current and knowledgeable of all policies, procedures and regulations related to the job functions and completing all assigned training on time, requesting additional training as needed to be proficient in all job responsibilities; cooperating with internal and external auditors and bank examiners by providing full cooperation and timely delivery of requested documentation and information; and reporting concerns about compliance to the Compliance Officer to enable prompt remediation.
- Complies with Bank policies and procedures relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) guidance. Report suspicious activity to the BSA Department through a Suspicious Incident Report (SIR).
- Adheres to privacy and information security policies, and ensure all sensitive internal and external customer information is properly secured and safeguarded. Use secure methods delivering client and/or confidential data by email.

Qualifications:
These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 2-3-years work related experience consisting of customer service background with extensive cash handling and/or financial institution cash handling. Additional educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or financial industry related curriculum a plus.
- Over 3 years of financial institution experience preferred with knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services.
- Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
- Must perform at high level of accuracy and be detailed oriented.
- Intermediate skills with personal computer equipment and operation; word processing, spreadsheet and Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak professionally and clearly to customers and employees.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under general supervision while performing duties.
- Current California driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
