Job Summary

Job Description

We are looking for a Data Engineering Intern . This role is a full-time internship and is remote . This internship is a full-time opportunity requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week and will run from June 7, 2027 through August 6, 2027 . Candidates must be available during core business hours for the entire 9-week duration of the program. Please note that all work must be performed within the United States.

What You'll Do

• Write Python code to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks notebooks

• Develop data transformations using Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and SQL

• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions

• Create and optimize Databricks jobs to process data at scale

• Write unit tests and validation logic to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability

• Document code, workflows, and technical decisions to support team knowledge sharing

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving data engineering practices

• Troubleshoot data issues and optimize pipeline performance

• Learn and apply best practices for building production-grade data platforms

What You'll Need

Required:

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field

• Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher

• Strong Python programming skills with ability to write clean, maintainable code

• Understanding of SQL and relational data concepts

• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and ask for help when needed

Preferred:

• Experience with Apache Spark or PySpark

• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows

• Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline design

• Exposure to Databricks, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or similar data engineering tools

• Familiarity with SQL notebooks or Jupyter notebooks

• Experience with testing frameworks or CI/CD concepts

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

• Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person

• Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time, with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
