RN, Virtual Care Nurse - Baroness Hospital - Telemedicine - PRN

Overview A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for the practice of nursing and tele-nursing according to the rules and regulations defined by the state's Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger's Models of Care/Practice, policies and procedures. The nurse participates in patient safety initiatives and ensures knowledge of pharmacological drugs, procedures, and equipment necessary for patient care. The nurse communicates effectively with primary nurses, staff physicians, and other departments, and coordinates virtual care across multiple telehealth service lines within Erlanger Health System. The nurse fields telehealth consult requests, triages them to the appropriate clinical department, and ensures audio-video connectivity for on-demand and scheduled services, requiring critical thinking and organizational skills. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and effective oral and written communication, with ability to provide interactive communications appropriate to the patient\'s age group. Education Required: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. De-escalation training, if applicable. Preferred: Specialized courses in computer programs. Experience Required: Possesses a minimum of 5 years\' experience in acute care nursing. Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies, and regulations; and knowledge of current trends and new developments. Well organized and methodical. Familiarity with Zoom and/or other audio-video technologies as applicable to telehealth visits. Preferred: Above-average communication and organizational skills; computer proficiency and customer service skills. Prior managerial experience; flexible, pleasant, and self-directed. Licensure/Certification Required: Current license to practice in the State of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents. Uses effective time management and maintains punctuality and attendance; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to support staffing needs. Communicates effectively with patients, family members, and the interdisciplinary team; seeks assistance for conflict resolution as needed. Implements the plan of care and identifies resources to meet patient care needs. Identifies and communicates changes in patient conditions that may impact unit staffing or safe patient care. Takes responsibility for meeting education and mandatory programs by completing hospital and unit-based competencies. Demonstrates knowledge of and contributes positively to unit-based performance improvement outcomes.
