HR Manager

HR ManagerAdams Outdoor Advertising (AOA), the 4th largest and largest private Outdoor Advertising firm in the U.S., is seeking an HR Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the HR function, translating the CHRO's strategy into programs, policies, and practices that support the business. The HR Director is mainly responsible for owning employee relations escalations, compliance, and HR operations and leading and developing the Senior HR Generalist and HR Administrator. This position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Essential functions of position include:Lead, manage, and develop the HR team (Senior HR Generalist, HR Assistant), setting priorities and reviewing workServe as the escalation point for complex employee relations matters, investigations, and terminationsOwn HR compliance across the organization: policy administration, recordkeeping, and adherence to federal, state, and local employment lawPartner with the CHRO to design and implement HR strategy, policies, and programs aligned to business goalsOversee core HR operations: HRIS administration, payroll coordination, onboarding/offboarding, and leave/accommodation programsLead benefits program administration in partnership with the CHRO and brokers/vendors, including plan design discussions and open enrollmentGuide and support compensation programs: job architecture, pay equity review, annual comp cycles, and offer approvalsAdvise senior leaders and people managers on organizational design, workforce planning, and change managementOversee recruiting strategy and hiring processes for assigned functions or locationsMonitor and report HR metrics and trends to the CHRO, recommending action on turnover, engagement, and workforce riskManage HR audits (401(k), ACA, EEO-1, workers' compensation) and ensure timely, accurate completionLead HR projects and process improvements, including HRIS optimization and policy updatesRepresent HR in cross-functional leadership discussions in the CHRO's absenceRequired qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree a plus8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years leading or managing HR staffStrong working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law and compliance requirementsDemonstrated experience managing complex employee relations issues and investigationsExperience with benefits and compensation program administrationProven ability to advise and influence senior leadersStrong leadership, coaching, and team-development skillsPreferred qualifications:SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent senior HR certificationExperience in a multi-state or multi-site organizationExperience partnering with a CHRO or senior HR executive on strategic initiativesAdams Outdoor Advertising:AOA, founded in 1983 by Steve Adams, is the 4th largest, and largest privately-held, Outdoor Advertising operator in the U.S. AOA operates in the following 14 markets: Ann Arbor/Kalamazoo/Lansing (MI), Beaufort/Charleston/Florence (SC), Charlotte/Winston-Salem (NC), Eastern Pennsylvania (PA), Madison (WI), Norfolk (VA), Peoria/Champaign (IL) and Ohio (OH).Searchlight Capital Partners, a leading global private investment firm, in partnership with British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, one of the largest asset managers in Canada, invested in AOA in 2021.
