Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a motivated Deputy Design Manager to support colocation and hyperscale data center projects from site due diligence and campus planning through design, construction documents, and construction administration. The ideal candidate has experience supporting project and design managers on data center projects within an A/E environment.This role supports coordination, documentation, and delivery of complex data center projects, with the expectation of increasing independence and the ability to serve as backup Design Manager.This position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule and can be based from a variety of locations in the US were AECOM has an office.Although the position is primarily remote periodic travel may be required for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other business‑critical activities. Project Coordination and Leadership SupportSupport the Design Manager in daily project coordination activities across disciplinesPrepare and distribute meeting agendas and minutes, progressing toward independent ownershipCapture accurate technical notes during interdisciplinary meetings and coordinate with discipline leads to confirm accuracyAttend client and stakeholder meetings and track key decisions, risks, and action itemsProactively assist in tracking, managing, and communicating project changes internally and externallyGrow into serving as backup to the Design Manager when requiredScheduling and CommunicationCoordinate internal and external design meetings using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and other client platformsTrack action items and follow up with internal teams to ensure timely resolutionDistribute client communications and internal updates to maintain alignmentDocumentation and Deliverables ManagementMaintain organized project documentation including RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, and tracking logsUpdate spreadsheets, dashboards, trackers, and internal and external reporting toolsAssist with specification edits, data entry, and updates within internal reporting systemsDevelop innovative tracking mechanisms and proactively suggest process improvementsManage project files across SharePoint, MS Teams, Google Drive, and Box to ensure accessibility and accuracyEnsure QA and QC sets, daily prints, and deliverables are properly prepared and storedAssist in assembling and organizing final deliverables prior to submissionSupport Design and Project Managers in developing technical and financial proposals for new and add, move, change data center projectsQualificationsMinimum RequirementsBA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education 2+ years of experience working in A/E firmsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License4 years of relevant experience in design and/or project management1 year in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management or engineeringExcellent communication (written/oral) and organization skillsAbility to work in dynamic, time-sensitive situationsAdditional InformationRelocation is not available for this positionSponsorship is not available for this positionAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
