Responsibilities The Wound Nurse is a multifaceted, evidence-based, registered nurse specialty which incorporates a unique body of knowledge to provide excellence in prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, and nursing care to select patients. This complex, interdependent nursing specialty encompasses all patient populations across the continuum of care. The wound nurse directs efforts at guiding optimal patient care that improves the quality of life for individuals with wound, ostomy, and continence concerns, achieving positive clinical outcomes through its unique scope of practice. This nursing specialty demonstrated experience in specific areas of clinical practice further developed through specialty certification. The wound nurse additionally utilizes the nursing process in the following major areas: practice, education, consultation, research, and admission. Qualifications Job Requirements Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) Must maintain current Texas RN License BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care Preferred Job Requirements Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified Wound and ostomy experience Certification by the WOCN or working toward certification #J-18808-Ljbffr Tyler Regional Hospital
