Job Summary

To admit all patients in a timely manner. To ensure all current information has been documented, signatures received, insurance has been verified, authorizations received and the deductibles or co-pays have been requested. Ensure the wrist bands are put on the proper patients, advance directives given to each patient and patients receive the answer to any questions or concerns they may have.

Key Responsibilities

• Verifying insurance benefits verification and documenting on the account
• Verifying proper documentation has signatures and is scanned into the electronic record
• Review benefits and payment/deductible/copay with the patient
• Collect money and/or secure payment via phone or in person and provide receipt
• Registration when patient arrives for services
• Verify patient identifiers before placing armband on patient
• Pre-registration
• Medical necessity checks
• Provide prompt pay estimate calculation
• Creating patient flow and no patient delays
• Excellent customer service required
• Obtain ABN with payment when necessary
• Answer phones as necessary
• Making sure each department has accurate paperwork/labels on the patient prior to the test being completed
• Making sure authorization has been obtained for patient testing prior to the test being completed
