Director of Project Management – Utility-Scale Solar & Energy Storage Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Director of Project Management to lead the execution and delivery of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage engineering projects. This role is responsible for overseeing the project management function, ensuring consistent, high-quality project delivery, driving operational excellence, and developing a high-performing team of project managers. The successful candidate will have extensive experience within an Engineering of Record (EOR) environment, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record managing large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects. This position serves as a key liaison between executive leadership, engineering teams, clients, and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the project management team supporting utility-scale solar and energy storage engineering projects. Establish, implement, and maintain best practices for project delivery within an Engineering of Record (EOR) framework. Oversee project portfolios to ensure successful execution of scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives. Drive the timely delivery of engineering milestones, including preliminary, intermediate, and final design packages, construction support, and record documentation. Ensure alignment between project management and multidisciplinary engineering teams, including civil, electrical, structural, and power systems disciplines. Provide strategic oversight for project planning, execution, risk management, and resource allocation. Client & Stakeholder Management Serve as a senior point of contact for project owners, developers, EPC contractors, and other key stakeholders. Lead project meetings, presentations, and communications with clients and executive leadership. Manage stakeholder expectations while ensuring project objectives and contractual obligations are met. Support business development efforts through client engagement, proposal reviews, and project strategy discussions. Oversee project budgets, forecasting, financial performance, and resource utilization. Manage contract compliance, scope changes, fee negotiations, and project change management processes. Monitor project profitability and implement corrective actions when necessary. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project execution, utilization, and client satisfaction. Recruit, mentor, and develop project managers and project support staff. Establish performance expectations, career development pathways, and succession planning initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Provide leadership and guidance on complex project challenges and organizational priorities. Process Improvement & Quality Assurance Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project management processes, tools, and methodologies. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and Engineering of Record responsibilities. Implement lessons learned and best practices to improve project outcomes and operational efficiency. Collaborate with executive leadership on organizational growth, scalability, and strategic initiatives. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Experience Minimum 10 years of project management experience within engineering, infrastructure, renewable energy, or related industries. Significant experience working within an Engineering of Record (EOR) environment. Demonstrated success managing large-scale utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, or similar infrastructure projects. Experience leading project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Strong understanding of engineering design processes, construction support, and project lifecycle management. Knowledge & Skills Expertise in project planning, scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, and resource management. Strong commercial and contractual management experience. Knowledge of utility-scale solar and energy storage project delivery practices. Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities. Proficiency with project management software and reporting tools. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing renewable energy projects exceeding 50MW. Background working with EPC contractors, project developers, utility companies, or engineering consulting firms. Familiarity with permitting, regulatory compliance, and construction-phase engineering support. Experience leading organizational growth and scaling project management operations.
