Labor and Delivery RN

Job Summary:

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care for patients at 32 weeks gestation and above, managing labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. This role requires collaboration with physicians and midwives to triage patients, assist in cesarean sections, and support patient recovery following vaginal and cesarean deliveries. The nurse must demonstrate strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced labor and delivery environment. Responsibilities:

Triage patients presenting to the Labor & Delivery unit.
Circulate and assist during cesarean sections.
Manage labor and delivery processes collaboratively with physicians and midwives.
Provide post-delivery recovery care for patients following vaginal and cesarean births.
Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery.
Document patient care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Minimum of 4 years nursing experience, preferably in Labor & Delivery.
Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills in obstetrics.
Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Five or more years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
Previous travel nursing experience.
Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.

Special Considerations:

Work is performed in a Level 2 Labor & Delivery unit supporting patients 32 weeks gestation and above.
Must be able to work night shifts and manage high acuity obstetric cases.
Collaborative work environment with physicians and midwives.

Scheduling:

Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Weekdays with every other weekend and holiday shifts required.
