Title of Position: Assistant Store Manager

Location: Duluth, Minnesota

Compensation: Range of $20 to $22 per hour.

Job Description

The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations of a busy convenience retail location offering food and beverage service, general merchandise, and other convenience products.

The Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for leading daily shifts, supervising employees, maintaining customer service standards, assisting with hiring and training, and ensuring the store operates efficiently. Building a positive team culture while maintaining accountability and consistent operational standards will be important priorities.

This individual will assist with employee scheduling, labor management, inventory control, product ordering, cash handling, and loss prevention. The ability to monitor business needs, maintain appropriate staffing levels, and support overall store profitability will be essential.

The Assistant Store Manager will also oversee merchandising, product displays, store cleanliness, and food and beverage quality standards. Ensuring compliance with applicable food safety, sanitation, alcohol, tobacco, and lottery regulations will be an important part of the position.

As part of a new store opening, this individual will have the opportunity to assist with initial store setup, merchandising, employee training, and establishing operational procedures that support a successful launch.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring an individual who is comfortable working alongside the team, assisting customers, and stepping into different responsibilities as business needs change. Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays will be necessary.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or management experience in convenience retail, restaurants, quick-service restaurants, hospitality, or related industries
• Strong customer service skills and a commitment to creating a positive customer experience
• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, motivate, and develop employees
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to lead by example
• Experience with employee scheduling, labor management, and daily shift operations
• Understanding of inventory management, cash handling, and loss prevention procedures
• Ability to maintain store cleanliness, merchandising standards, and operational consistency
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and general retail compliance standards
• Experience with alcohol, tobacco, or lottery sales preferred but not required
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to support the team wherever needed
