OSIS
The Perioperative Program is a 6-month training program designed for nurses who have no operating room experience. The majority of training is conducted on the day shift with one rotation on the night shift. The program consists of classroom didactics and on the job training with preceptors in the different service specialties. In each specialty service rotation, the perioperative trainee will learn about the equipment, supplies, and instruments specific to the service. The perioperative trainees will also learn about the different processes, policies, and available resources. Throughout the training process, the operating room educators are checking in to verify that training is on track. Upon completion of the program, the perioperative nurse will meet with the OR Manager to review open shifts and choose their schedule.
