From recruiting and payroll to employee relations and compliance, your work keeps the store running smoothly and the team feeling supported and valued.If you're a people-first professional who thrives on variety, enjoys solving problems, and is passionate about building a great workplace, this role is a great fit for you.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and assisting them throughout the storeCoordinate all employee information updates in the Workday time and attendance systemCounsel department heads and employees on performance reviews, scheduling, benefits, wages, and personnel matters; serve as Insurance Coordinator and 401(k) CoordinatorDevelop and manage recruiting and retention programs; facilitate the full hiring process including interviewing, placement, orientation, and trainingCoordinate employee transfers between stores and track vacation and personal days for all store employeesConduct performance reviews and exit interviews; attend weekly staff and assistant manager meetingsMake payroll adjustments including bonuses and missed pay raises; transmit sales, hours, adjustments, and accounts receivable to the corporate office weeklyDisperse paychecks, W-2s, and Trust Fund and 401(k) reports; distribute company and store communications including birthdays and anniversariesPrepare employee wage and employment verifications, disability claims, and leave of absence requestsRecord and follow up on Workers Compensation claims and complete accident reports for customers and employeesSchedule employees, honor time-off requests, and arrange coverage for call-insCoordinate quarterly employee meetings, store events, service award programs, and bonus meetingsHandle customer complaints and send follow-up and thank-you correspondenceConduct store tours for schools and civic organizationsHandle confidential employee records and sensitive information with strict discretionMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policiesAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as neededYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, and Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness HomeYour SkillsTo be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:Communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally with employees and leadershipInterview, counsel, and advise employees and managers with professionalism and discretionSolve practical problems and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentUse basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentagesHandle confidential employee records and information with strict discretionHigh school diploma plus 2 to 3 years of HR and accounting coursework required; Hy-Vee experience preferredReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, and Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness HomeDirect Reports: All other store positions and any assigned by Store DirectorEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma plus 2 to 3 years of HR and accounting coursework requiredHy-Vee experience preferredPhysical RequirementsPhysical activity is incidental to the core duties of the roleOccasionally walk the floor or facility to observe operations, staff, or productWhere applicable to the role: ability to occasionally handle product for demonstration purposesNo regular lifting, carrying, or physical exertion requiredWorking EnvironmentThis role is performed in a fast-paced store environment. You may occasionally encounter exposure to cleaning chemicals or solvents.
