About IPSD: Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary: IPSD-Seguin, TX has an exciting opportunity for a driven and analytical Quality Engineer to support engine assembly. In this role, you will lead technical analysis and continuous improvement of quality control processes driving efficiency, cost, performance, and product quality. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure enterprise quality standards, internal factory quality, and customer delivered quality. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on operational excellence and the delivery of high-performance diesel engines to our customers. What You Will Do: • Identify and assist with implementation of improvements to assembly processes to reduce defects, reduce downtime, and improve overall product quality • Monitor quality processes, diagnose issues, and lead troubleshooting efforts to restore and maintain factory quality • Provide hands-on investigations to determine root cause and provide short-term and long-term corrective actions • Collaborate and support the Small Business Team to communicate emerging issues and drive corrective action on existing issues • Conduct and maintain control plan creation and maintenance in addition to PFMEA reviews to identify risks, drive preventive actions, and ensure process robustness • Participate in and help adopt Caterpillar’s Safety Driven strategy and culture • Investigate and resolve internal and external quality defects in diesel engine assembly, using root cause analysis and corrective actions • Review reports and data for review with cross functional teams including manufacturing engineering, test engineering, and factory operations • Present to leadership opportunities for improvement and current issue actions for found defects in the factory and at the customer • Collaborate closely with other Quality department team members to ensure replication of improvements are adopted and cross training/knowledge sharing can take place • Coach and support production and technical teams to strengthen problem-solving capabilities and drive operational excellence What You Will Have: Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Quality Management System (QMS): Knowledge of Quality Management System's (QMS) functions, features, and capabilities; ability to design, implement, test, and maintain Quality Management Systems to consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory compliances. Summary Pay Range: $81,370.00 - $122,060.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
