Bilingual (French) Case Manager -SOT Program in Chicago

Overview The Marjorie Kovler Center is a Chicago-based program of Heartland Alliance International dedicated to providing survivors of torture with trauma‑informed care and support. Position Summary The Bilingual (French) Case Manager works with French‑speaking survivors in the SOT program, delivering case management services in French and English, ensuring equitable access to benefits, healthcare, and community resources. Responsibilities Maintain accurate, timely case records in accordance with agency standards and in French and/or English. Provide direct case management services and ongoing service coordination for francophone participants. Explain available public benefit programs and assist participants with applications such as Medicaid, SNAP, childcare subsidies, housing supports, and financial assistance. Assess participant needs, facilitate referrals, and coordinate care across employment services, education programs, and complementary care (e.g., massage/acupuncture). Offer French interpretation support when needed and collaborate with volunteer or contracted interpreters when services exceed capacity. Build and maintain relationships with community‑based organizations serving immigrant and refugee communities. Participate in weekly supervision, daily group activities, and internal and external partner meetings as appropriate. Support organizational efforts to strengthen access policies, translated materials, and equitable service delivery. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree (higher education valued). Full professional fluency in French and English. Comfortable communicating with clients, families, team members, and leadership. Willingness to work in‑person 8:30‑5:00 a.m. Education and Experience Credit toward years of experience may be given if a degree higher than a Bachelor’s degree is attained. Other Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems, and other software used by Heartland Alliance. Basic mathematical skills. Reasoning ability and problem‑solving skills.
