CAD Designer / Application Engineer

Salary: $85,000 - 125,000 per year Requirements:

• We require 3+ years of AutoCAD experience creating fire alarm or life-safety shop drawings.
• We require 3+ years of practical experience with fire alarm and other life-safety electronics.
• We require working knowledge of Siemens fire alarm equipment.
• We require NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems.
• We require the ability to read and interpret contract drawings, specifications, codes, and equipment data and installation sheets.
• We require a solid understanding of electricity and electronics, including circuits, power supplies, and battery calculations.
• We require strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• We require strong computer and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple assignments independently.
• We require legal authorization to work in the United States.
• We strongly prefer experience as a fire alarm field technician, including installation, programming, and commissioning.
• We strongly prefer familiarity with NFPA 72 and the Florida Fire Prevention Code.
• We strongly prefer experience with large-scale or networked Siemens systems and related equipment, and we will also consider candidates with competitive manufacturer knowledge and experience.
• We strongly prefer Bluebeam Revu experience for markups and submittal review.

• We work with Engineering supervisors to plan and produce shop drawings, including floorplans, riser diagrams, and control equipment and panel diagrams that align with the project scope.
• We review contract drawings, specifications, and equipment data sheets to ensure each submittal reflects what was sold and what the code requires.
• We use AutoCAD automation tools such as LISP, scripts, blocks, and templates to improve output speed and drawing consistency.
• We prepare collateral documentation for field staff, including device schedules, wiring details, sequence of operations, and installation references.
• We record labor hours by project in our accounting software.
• We participate in periodic site visits, meetings, and surveys.
• We remain available for overtime when project deadlines require it.

We translate contract documents and sales proposals into accurate shop drawings and supporting documentation used by our field crews and customers every day.
