Arkansas Talent Group is searching for an experienced, hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its client, a growing multi-location company in the construction equipment sales and rental industry .

Based in Jacksonville, Arkansas , this executive will join the senior leadership team and serve as a strategic business partner to the President/CEO while leading the company's finance and accounting functions. The organization currently generates approximately $15-$20 million in annual revenue and operates locations across Arkansas and several surrounding states.

This is not a purely accounting-focused CFO position . The company is seeking a financially sophisticated business leader who can understand the operation, identify opportunities to improve profitability and cash flow, evaluate investments, strengthen financial reporting, and help leadership make better business decisions.

The right person will be equally comfortable digging into the numbers and sitting at the executive table . They should think like an owner, manage cash like a banker, and evaluate capital like an investor.

What You'll Do

Financial Strategy & Business Performance

• Lead the company's financial strategy, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial decision-making.
• Partner closely with the President/CEO and senior leadership team to evaluate business performance, identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and support strategic decisions.
• Develop stronger financial visibility into the business and translate financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for operational leaders .
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve profitability, margins, cash flow, working capital, and return on invested capital .
• Develop meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and management reporting that allow leadership to better understand performance and make informed decisions.
• Increase visibility into branch, product, and equipment profitability and help leadership understand where the company is-and is not-generating appropriate returns.
• Develop a disciplined framework for evaluating capital allocation, investments, equipment purchases, and other growth opportunities.

Cash Flow, Capital & Banking

• Lead cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and liquidity planning.
• Oversee banking relationships, financing, lender communications, and debt compliance.
• Evaluate capital investments and equipment fleet performance with a focus on ROI, utilization, profitability, and long-term value creation .
• Help leadership balance growth opportunities with appropriate cash management and financial discipline.

Accounting, Reporting & Systems

• Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and tax coordination.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team , establishing clear expectations while providing mentorship, accountability, and support.
• Improve the quality, accuracy, usefulness, and timeliness of financial reporting .
• Evaluate existing processes and controls and implement improvements where appropriate.
• Lead financial systems, reporting automation, and ERP optimization initiatives.
• The company currently utilizes Acumatica , so prior experience with Acumatica or a similar ERP platform is strongly preferred.

Multi-Location Operational Leadership

The CFO will support financial performance across a growing multi-location organization with operations in Jacksonville/Central Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, San Antonio, Memphis, Nashville, Birmingham, Mobile, and Knoxville .

This position will require some travel, particularly during the first year , as the CFO visits company locations, develops relationships with branch leadership, and gains a firsthand understanding of how each operation functions.

The goal is not simply to analyze locations from the corporate office. The CFO should understand the business at the operational level and use that knowledge to help improve financial performance throughout the organization.

Leadership Style Matters

The company has a number of experienced, long-tenured employees and leaders who know the business extremely well , and the successful CFO will recognize the value of that institutional knowledge.

At the same time, the organization is looking for a CFO with the confidence, expertise, and business judgment to identify what needs to change and lead those improvements to completion .

This requires a leader who can:

• Build credibility and strong working relationships across departments and locations.
• Listen and seek to understand the business before immediately changing established processes.
• Respect differing perspectives, responsibilities, and leadership styles.
• Explain financial concepts, recommendations, and new processes in a way that is clear, practical, and respectful.
• Challenge assumptions and hold others accountable without creating unnecessary friction or approaching change with a heavy hand .
• Navigate sensitive conversations with diplomacy while remaining confident enough to make recommendations and move initiatives forward.
• Balance relationship-building with execution and accountability .

What We're Looking For

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field .
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience .
• Experience in a senior finance leadership role , such as CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, Assistant Controller, or a comparable position with significant financial and operational responsibility.
• Strong background in financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, cash management, working capital, and business performance improvement .
• Demonstrated ability to use financial information to identify and execute opportunities for improved profitability and operational performance .
• Experience overseeing accounting operations and developing finance/accounting teams.
• Experience working within a multi-location business environment .
• Strong business acumen and the ability to understand how operational decisions ultimately affect profitability, cash flow, and return on capital.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across a diverse leadership team.
• Willingness to travel periodically to company locations, with increased travel anticipated during the first year.

Preferred

• CPA and/or MBA .
• Experience in construction equipment sales or rental, equipment rental, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or another asset-intensive business .
• Experience within a privately held, entrepreneurial organization , particularly one in the $10M-$50M revenue range.
• Experience with Acumatica or a comparable ERP platform.
• ERP implementation, optimization, reporting automation, or financial systems improvement experience.
• Experience evaluating equipment or other capital-intensive investments and ROI .

First-Year Priorities

The incoming CFO will be expected to quickly learn the organization and build relationships throughout the company while beginning to strengthen its financial infrastructure. Key priorities will include:

• Improving the quality and timeliness of financial reporting.
• Implementing meaningful KPI dashboards and management reporting.
• Strengthening cash flow forecasting and working capital performance.
• Increasing visibility into branch, product, and equipment profitability.
• Developing a disciplined capital allocation and investment framework.
• Building strong relationships with leaders throughout the company's locations.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and financial systems without unnecessarily disrupting what is already working.
• Supporting measurable improvements in profitability and return on invested capital .

The successful candidate will combine strong financial expertise with operational leadership and exceptional interpersonal judgment .

They will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, digging into the details, challenging assumptions, and driving accountability-but they will also understand that successful change requires trust, credibility, tact, and respect for the people who have helped build the company .

This position is approximately:

• 50% Operator - improving financial processes, reporting, cash management, accountability, and day-to-day financial performance.
• 25% Capital Allocator - evaluating equipment, investments, working capital, and other uses of company resources.
• 25% Strategist - partnering with the President/CEO and leadership team to improve profitability and guide the company's continued growth.
