Director of Community Safety & Security
Lakes of the Four Seasons Property Owners Association
Job Description
Job Description
Director of Community Safety & Security
Lakes of the Four Seasons Property Owners Association is looking for a strong, hands-on leader to help shape the future of our Security Department.
LOFS is a private residential community of more than 2,700 homes and nearly 8,000 residents. Our Security Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and serves as a visible resource for residents throughout the community.
We are not looking for a desk-only administrator.
We are looking for a leader who wants to be in the field, working alongside staff, understanding what is happening throughout the community, and building a professional, responsive, and service-focused department.
The Director of Community Safety & Security will lead a team of approximately 8 to 12 employees responsible for community patrols, dispatch operations, resident assistance, gate and access support, property and covenant observations, house checks, well-being checks, and support during emergencies and community incidents.
What We Are Looking For
The right person for this position is a leader first.
You should be comfortable setting expectations and holding people accountable, but you should also know how to coach employees, build a team, and create consistency through clear communication and training.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The majority of the Director's time is expected to be spent actively engaged in the field and with department staff.
Because this is a 24-hour department, this is not a traditional Monday through Friday office position. The Director must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, supervise, and develop the LOFS Security Department and its employees.
• Maintain a visible presence throughout the community and regularly participate in patrol and department activities.
• Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate security officers and dispatch personnel.
• Establish clear expectations, consistent training, and accountability throughout the department.
• Ensure appropriate staffing and coverage for a 24-hour operation.
• Oversee community patrols, resident assistance, dispatch operations, gate access, house checks, well-being checks, and property and covenant observations.
• Build positive relationships with residents and promote a professional, approachable, and service-focused department.
• Serve as a primary department liaison with local law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public safety agencies.
• Coordinate with the Community Manager and POA leadership on community safety initiatives and emergency planning.
• Review department activity, identify trends and challenges, and continuously look for ways to improve department performance.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to coach, develop, and hold employees accountable.
• Strong judgment and the ability to remain professional in difficult or high-stress situations.
• Ability to manage staffing and employees in a 24-hour work environment.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and remain actively engaged with all shifts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Prior law enforcement, public safety, emergency services, military, security leadership, or related experience is preferred but not required.
We are also interested in proven leaders from outside traditional security or law enforcement backgrounds who have the ability to build teams, improve operations, and lead by example.
