The Endocrine Laboratory Technician is expected to be proficient at operating and maintaining hormone analyzers onsite. This position must follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Attention to detail is essential with these duties. 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. This position also requires participation in a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities: 

• Maintains accurate and current records of patient results and inventory. Performs hormone assays utilizing an automated process and resulting system; reports results into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) computer system.

• Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies; documents all quality control activities, as well as all instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Follows the laboratory’s policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established, acceptable levels of performance.
• Studies and remains current and knowledgeable with the Laboratory Operating Manual regarding quality assurance, quality control, safety procedures and operating guidelines for performing all assigned laboratory services. 
• Holds a comprehensive understanding of and follow all OSHA requirements for safe laboratory operations to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
• Assures quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follows practice, physician and laboratory division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations. 
• Works cooperatively with the Company multidisciplinary teams to provide good patient care and achieve the objectives and goals of the practice.
• Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping all patient and proprietary information confidential. Adheres to signed HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement.

 

Academic Training: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or related – preferred
  • Studies level: University Education (Bachelor's Degree)
  • Studies area: Chemical/Biological/Clinical Laboratory Science or other related field

• High School Diploma or GED – required
  1. Studies level: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

 

Position Requirements/Experience:

• Minimum 6 months’ laboratory training towards degree or experience in a clinical or research lab – required

 

Technical Skills: 

• Electronic Medical Records experience - preferred  
• Excel at Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and hormone analyzers
