In this rewarding position, you'll combine cutting-edge technology, clinical expertise, and compassionate care to help diagnose and treat sleep disorders for patients of all ages.Every night is different, every patient has a story, and every study you perform can help unlock answers that lead to healthier lives.What You'll Do:Be the Sleep ExpertConduct standard and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies while adhering to department policies, clinical standards, and best practices.You'll utilize specialized equipment and procedures, including:Electroencephalograms (EEG)Electrooculograms (EOG)Electromyograms (EMG)Respiratory effort monitoringAirflow analysisOximetryEnd-tidal monitoringPAP device monitoring and therapyCreate a Great Patient Experience:From the moment patients arrive, you'll help them feel comfortable and informed.Verify patient identity and medical historyClearly explain procedures and answer questionsProvide compassionate care to patients and familiesSupport patients from infancy through adulthoodCapture Accurate, High-Quality Data:Your attention to detail makes a difference.Monitor studies in real timeIdentify and resolve technical artifactsTroubleshoot equipment issues quickly and effectivelyEnsure accurate, reliable recordings for physician interpretationChampion Safety and Excellence:Maintain, clean, and inspect equipmentApply universal precautions and isolation protocolsAssist with patient movement and transfers safelyCollaborate with technical support and leadership when neededContinue Growing Your Expertise:We believe learning never sleeps.Earn at least 10 sleep-related CEUs annuallyParticipate in education, training, in-services, and professional development opportunitiesStay current on emerging sleep technology and industry best practicesWhat We're Looking For:Education & ExperienceGraduate of a CAAHEP Polysomnography Program ORMinimum of 6 months of experience in sleep medicine or respiratory proceduresLicenses & CertificationsOne of the following is required:Current Louisiana licensure as a Registered Polysomnography Technologist (LSBME)Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through BRPTRegistered Sleep Technologist credential through the American Board of Sleep MedicineORCurrent Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license (CRT or RRT) with commitment to obtain sleep disorder certification within 6 months of hireAdditionally:Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart AssociationWhat Makes You Successful:You thrive in this role if you have:Strong technical and clinical skills in sleep studiesExceptional attention to detailThe ability to stay calm during emergency situationsExcellent communication and patient education skillsStrong organizational and prioritization abilitiesA collaborative approach with physicians, staff, and leadershipProfessionalism, confidentiality, and accountabilityThe ability to work independently while delivering outstanding patient careWhy You'll Love It Here:At LCMC Health, you'll join a team dedicated to making healthcare personal.
