IT Software Engineer

IT SOFTWARE ENGINEER (TBD IN ALASKA)Design, develop, implement, maintain, and support software applications, integrations, reporting solutions, and automation initiatives that advance organizational effectiveness and continuous improvement efforts across the district. The IT Software Engineer serves as a strategic technology partner by developing custom applications, enhancing existing platforms, integrating enterprise systems, automating workflows, and delivering innovative technology solutions that support district operations, decision-making, and student success.This position plays a critical role in the continued development and enhancement of proprietary district software, and other enterprise technology systems while promoting innovation, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision making.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.Experience developing and supporting applications within educational or public-sector environments.Experience working with PowerSchool APIs, PowerSchool customization, reporting, and automation solutions.Experience developing enterprise workflow automation and business process improvement solutions.Experience with cloud-based application development and deployment platforms.Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) integration frameworks and knowledge management systems.Experience working with Azure, Microsoft 365, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise platforms.Experience developing mobile applications using React Native.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.2. Three (3) to five (5) years of professional software development experience.3. Demonstrated proficiency in: a. Java b. JavaScript c. React Native d. Python4. Demonstrated experience utilizing GitHub for source control, version management, code reviews, branching strategies, issue tracking, and collaborative development workflows.5. Experience developing, testing, and maintaining web-based and enterprise software applications.6. Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating multiple systems and platforms.7. Knowledge of application architecture, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and software engineering best practices.8. Experience with database design, data management, and SQL query development.9. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.10. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.11. Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.12. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as well as a member of a team.13. Strong intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.14.
