Seasonal Retail Sales AssociateA Seasonal Retail Sales Associate at the Museum & Garden Shop is responsible for all sales activities and sales associate job duties, from greeting customers, answering questions, offering assistance, suggesting items, lending opinions, and providing product information. Seasonal associates will work up to 25 hours a week from July to February. Schedules will include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.Our shop sales associates are the welcoming faces that greet customers and provide them with a memorable shopping experience. We are searching for a qualified seasonal sales associate to add to our team, and to provide the exceptional customer service Newfields' Museum & Garden Shop is known for. The ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator who has a knack for selling merchandise and building relationships. With a keen eye on customer satisfaction, the seasonal sales associate answers questions and maintains a clean, well-organized sales floor. You are the driving force behind new and ongoing sales opportunities — directly impacting our growth and success.ResponsibilitiesWelcome and greet customers as they enter the Museum & Garden ShopProvide in-depth product knowledgeAnswer customer questions and concernsAttend to unique and individual shopping needs of each customerCross-sell and encourage beneficial product add-onsPromote current sales and promotionsExplain Newfields member benefits and encourage customers to joinProcess purchases, returns, and exchangesHandle customer complaints in a calm and professional mannerOrganize and replenish merchandiseMaintain a clean and tidy work and retail spaceHelp create a positive environment for customers to shop and buyWork as a team to achieve sales goalsPerform any other duties as directed by supervisorsRequired SkillsComputer literate; familiarity using POS systemsExtremely personable, positive, and approachableExcellent customer service skillsComfortable standing for long periods of time; can lift 50 poundsEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalent preferredPrevious retail experience a major plusPhysical Demands of Work EnvironmentPhysical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
