Operations Area Manager

Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Operations Area Manager for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Among the key duties of the position are the following: Provides managerial leadership to frontline supervisors with overall responsibility for custodial operations on the first & second shift on any New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. Standard hours: 37.5 hours per week. Fully on‑site work arrangement. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of experience in custodial operations or building maintenance, three of which must have been at the supervisory level. Certifications / Licenses Valid driver’s license. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong communication. Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills. Ability to interact with a diverse customer base. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of the concept of “Green Cleaning” and personnel management in all aspects. APPA Facilities Manager Certification or Certified Registered Executive Housekeeper. Ability to speak and understand Spanish. Physical Demands and Work Environment Special Conditions Clean driving record.
