Come create chemistry with us! Support the site by developing and implementing reliability improvement systems in collaboration with Production and Maintenance personnel. Provide technical services related to design review, equipment repair and maintenance, predictive and preventive maintenance, Root Cause Failure Analysis, troubleshooting, spare-parts management, and monitoring of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Major objectives include:

• Improve asset reliability and availability by using performance data, asset criticality, and risk-based prioritization to address the highest-impact opportunities.
• Reduce recurring equipment failures through a disciplined Bad Actor Program, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and sustainable corrective actions.
• Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and Reliability-Centered Maintenance strategies that support business and operating needs.
• Strengthen condition-monitoring capabilities, including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other predictive technologies.
• Ensure reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle considerations are incorporated into equipment repairs, capital projects, and asset upgrades.
• Establish and execute a multi-year reliability improvement plan in collaboration with Production and Maintenance.

As a Reliability Engineer, you create chemistry by...

• Tracking and analyzing asset reliability performance, including mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), availability, maintenance cost, and other relevant indicators; use the findings to prioritize improvement opportunities.
• Conducting asset criticality assessments and applying risk-based prioritization to maintenance strategies, resources, and reliability initiatives.
• Owning the Bad Actor Program by identifying chronic equipment issues, developing action plans, tracking implementation, and verifying sustained performance improvement.
• Leading Root Cause Analysis for significant or recurring equipment failures and ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified for effectiveness.
• Developing, monitoring, and optimizing preventive, predictive, and Reliability-Centered Maintenance strategies based on equipment risk, failure history, operating context, and business needs.
• Leading and improving condition-monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other predictive technologies; translate findings into timely maintenance actions.
• Providing troubleshooting and technical support to Production, the Maintenance Manager, Planner, and maintenance crafts for complex equipment reliability and repair issues.
• Evaluating equipment repair, replacement, and upgrade alternatives based on reliability, lifecycle cost, risk, schedule, and maintainability.
• Supporting capital projects and equipment upgrades through design review, equipment selection, layout, scope development, technical bid analysis, spare-parts determination, maintenance strategy development, installation, commissioning, and start-up in accordance with applicable plant, regulatory, and BASF standards.
• Developing, maintaining, and executing the multi-year reliability improvement plan in collaboration with Production and Maintenance, including priorities, resource needs, schedules, and measurable outcomes.
• Developing the capabilities of in-house maintenance resources through coaching, technical guidance, and reliability-focused training.
• Complying with and actively supporting all applicable Quality, Safety, Ecology, Legal Compliance, and site policies and procedures.

If you have a Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of equipment reliability, maintenance, operations, and engineering activities in a chemical or manufacturing environment. Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs and equipment troubleshooting. Ability to perform or support Root Cause Failure Analysis and develop practical reliability improvement actions. Strong problem-solving, written communication, oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to make sound decisions regarding equipment repair alternatives and reliability improvement priorities.

Desired: Experience supporting capital projects, including equipment selection and layout, scope development, spare-parts determination, technical bid analysis, installation, commissioning, and start-up. Experience leading a Bad Actor Program or similar continuous-improvement process. Experience training and developing in-house maintenance resources. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, plant design requirements, and BASF engineering standards. Experience developing multi-year reliability improvement plans and maintenance strategies.
